From a worldview it would probably be a mystery why Israel
and every crisis of hers is always in the news. Israel is a tiny nation that is about the same size as the State of New Jersey
and has no major natural resources. Why then does the world and Israel's neighbors seem so focused on her? Israel is the focal point for all prophecy. Israel is the epicenter
for past, current, and future Biblically prophetic events.
God
made promises to Israel that have been and will be fulfilled. One of the Bible's greatest prophecies about Israel has already
come to pass. In 1948, Israel was reborn as a nation.
He
said, "Son of man, these bones are the whole house of Israel. They say, 'Our bones are dried up and our hope is gone;
we are cut off.' Therefore prophesy and say to them: 'This is what the Sovereign Lord says: O My people, I am going to open
your graves and bring you up from them; I will bring you back to the land of Israel. Then you, My people, will know that I
am the Lord, when I open your graves and bring you up from them. I will put My Spirit in you and you will live, and I will
settle you in your own land. Then you will know that I the Lord have spoken, and I have done it,' declares the Lord"
(Eze. 37:11-14).
"Fear not, for I am with
you. I will bring your seed from the east, and gather you from the west. I will say to the north, Give up; and to the south,
Keep not back; bring My sons from far, and My daughters from the ends of the earth..." (Is. 43:5-6).
"In that day, the Lord will reach out His hand a second time
to reclaim the remnant that is left of His people, who will be left, from Assyria, and from Egypt, and from Pathros, and from
Cush, and from Elam, and from Shinar, and from Hamath, and from the coastlands of the sea. And He will set up an ensign for
the nations, and will assemble the outcasts of Israel, and gather together the dispersed of Judah from the four corners of
the earth" (Is. 11:11-12).
The rebirth
of the Jewish state should have put aside any doubts that God had abandoned the apple of His eye, or that Bible prophecy doesn't
have a direct effect on the world.
At this very
minute one of the other greatest Biblical mile markers for end-time prophecy is currently taking place. The world is beginning
to place unprecedented pressure upon Israel and her incoming government led by Benjamin Netanyahu. The world leaders (including
America) demand a two-state resolution between Israel and Palestine. Israel's reluctance to give up her God given land and
the possibility (or inevitability) of the coming war with Iran puts Israel in direct position to fulfill this prophecy found
in Zechariah 12:3.
"And in that day will
I make Jerusalem a burdensome stone for all people: all that burden themselves with it shall be cut in pieces, though all
the people of the earth be gathered together against it" (Zech. 12:3).
What happens in Israel has a direct effect on the rest of the world. In the coming days she will
become a seemingly unbearable burden to the eyes of the world. She becomes a burden because the hearts of men have become
hardened and demand Israel to follow man's covenant, fully ignoring the covenant God has made with Abraham the Father of Israel.
And I will make of thee (Israel) a great nation,
and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing: And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse
him that curses thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed. Genesis 12:2,3
The international community (and soon America) has already started cursing her, hating her, and demanding
her compliance. The prophecy in Zechariah is soon to be fulfilled. God says that all who burden themselves with her will be
cut in pieces, God also says, ALL the earth will be gathered against Israel. Israel's only allies are one by one beginning
to fade.
Let us continue to pray for Israel
in these coming days. Let us also pray that we are ready in this nation for the coming judgment as a result of America turning
her back against Israel. God has spoken it; His word does not come back void.
Praying for the peace of Jerusalem and urging others to do the same,
Daniel Eggers
